How long have you been at CrossFit Burleigh? Almost 12 months
Why do you do CrossFit? What else do people do at 5.30 in the morning? I’m a little crazy but I also love competition.
What are your favourite and least favourite movements or WODs?
Fav: anything not too far from the ground- deadlifts or cleans anyday.
Least Fav: In no particular order….wall balls & thrusters
What your biggest achievement so far?
Too many to list as I still look forward to more PB’s as I continue to chip away at my goats.
What are your future goals?
Continue to stay healthy & injury free and prepare for 2017 comp.& new age group.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
Although I have played many social sports I was a late starter & didn’t take it seriously until I was 48 years old when I began competing in masters athletics in the pentathlon. Athletics also gave me the opportunity to travel to most cities in Australia to compete in annual national comp. Still love athletics but Crossfit has been my sport for the past 3 years and have made many friends from both sports.
Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey?
Whatever your reason for starting you will find that Crossfit is more than just another exercise program. As an older athlete I love the fact that I can be working out alongside someone that may be 20 or 30+ years younger than me & I have never felt threatened or intimidated in any way. I can honestly say that the young people I crossfit with have all been encouraging & I have always felt that it has been a 2 way street in that they benefit me as much as I benefit them.
Thank you Donna.I am a 63 yr old woman and your classes have transformed my life. I have gained so much physical strength and with that has come self confidence all within a gentle, non judgemental environment. Marg B
